2022: July 3-8 in Pensacola, FL -- 2023: June 4-9 in Pensacola, FL

The National Flight Academy is one of the best and most selective opportunities for Oyler students. In the summer of 2022 & 2023 two students got to go down to Pensacola, FL and stay on a military base for an entire week. While there, they learn the ins and outs of aviation, communication, and team building.

During the first week of June, students took part in a Home & Architecture themed week. Students were required to create floor plans or exterior home designs through two different computer softwares (SketchUp & SmartDraw). Also, a professional Architect, Sarah Cornell, stopped by to talk about her career, the projects she works on, and spent time with each student helping them create their own designs. At the end of the week, media students created a website to showcase each students work.

During the second week of June, students took part in a Culinary themed week. Students were tasked with two challenges, create a salad that does not have any leafy greens and create a no bake dessert. They were also required to budget out all ingredients for each recipe. Another part of the week dealt with learning about food photography. Students got to attend a photo studio and learn from professionals in the food photography field. The media team created a cooking video for each team that was displayed at the showcase.

During the third week of June, students participated in a Fashion Design themed week. Students had the choice of creating a clothing design by free hand drawing, or creating a shoe line using the Adobe Photoshop Software. The students who free drew, had their creation come to life as they made it on a Circut. At the beginning of the week, Fashion Designer Eliana Batsakis came to visit and talk about her career. She was featured on the Netflix Show, Next in Fashion. 

Northern Kentucky University hosts two different Health Camps for students in the Northern Kentucky and Cincinnati regions. One camp is for high school students that runs a week long, while the other is for junior high students that goes on for half of the week. Students learn all about nursing careers by being exposed to different majors they can chose in college while being very hands on during the week. 

One of the most successful camps of the year is the Fourthwall Film Camp. The summer of 2023 is the third year Mr. Nick and Mr. Connor host a film camp for students in grades 7-12. Students spend the entire week of camp pitching story ideas, writing scripts, finding actors, filming, and editing. By the end of the week, students have completed an entire short film that is posted on YouTube and submitted into film festivals. Each July, Mr. Nick takes a handful of students to Reeves Golf Course for a 4 day golf camp with the First Tee of Greater Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky. During these four days, students learn the basic skills, rules, and etiquette of the game. On the last day students get to put their knowledge to the test and play on the golf course for the full two hours.
