Oyler's Media Classes

Oyler has a lot of different media classes for students in grades 7-12. Students learn many skills and put those skills straight into action with project based learning. Our classes include Video Production, Broadcast, Photography, Design and the Primer. Check out what each class is working on below.

Media Classes Descriptions

Video Production

This class is learning all about shot composition in film. They are studying the different types of shots and putting their knowledge to the test as they have to shoot the different shot styles with the cameras. This is all working towards being able to tell stories and shooting video the correct way.

Broadcast

Broadcast is always working towards their next newscast, while also learning different topics. The students pitch story ideas, get interviews, film b-roll and edit the package for the newscast. Students also anchor and report. This is the first year they are doing their newscasts live. 

PHotography

Right now, students are working on learning all of the pieces to manual photography. That includes, aperture, shutter speed, iso and exposure. They are constatnly practicing in class.

Grapic Design

Students in Graphic Design are working on learning the Adobe Illustrator software. This is a design software where students can make designs for shirts, logos, companies, etc..

The Primer

Students are working on creating a stop motion movie with legos that lasts at least 15 seconds. This requires students to take a lot of pictures to capture the motion of their characters.
